The potassium bitartrate is an acid salt of potassium tartrate. It is a by-product of wine making. It is called cream of tartar by the food industry. It is usually colorless to white crystal powder, odorless and has pleasant cool and sour taste.
(1) Potassium tartrate is widely used in industries such as food, medicine, chemical, and light industry. It is mainly used to manufacture tartrate salts, such as antimony potassium tartrate and potassium sodium tartrate.
(2) Used in the food industry as a beer foaming agent, food souring agent, flavoring agent, etc. Its acidity is 1.3 times that of citric acid, making it particularly suitable as an acidifier for grape juice.
(3) It also plays a very important role in industries such as tanning, photography, glass, enamel, and telecommunications equipment.
